Needs and options design review
A Needs and Options Design Review is a low commitment service we are offering that can save you a lot of time and money further along your project journey.
It’s all in the preparation. Spending more time during the ‘planning phase’ in the early stage of the project is absolutely vital. Changing your home is a big step. Whether you are extending, converting your loft or just re-configuring the internal layout it’s a big deal. Taking time to plan properly will, without a doubt, save you time and money in the long run.
Abraham Lincoln is often quoted for having said, “If I had eight hours to chop down a tree, I’d spend six sharpening my axe.”
A Needs and Options Design Review will help you understand what costs are involved, how the design and build process actually works and could give you a fresh perspective to your project with a useful ‘road map’ explaining each step and what to do next.
It’s called low commitment consultancy because you’re not obligated to hire us after this. You can use this document with any other architect or company. Our ethos has always been to enable our clients to achieve their goals – even if it isn’t through us.

This is the first step of the ‘Needs and Options Design Review. Remember at this point you are under no obligation but you will understand what’s feasible.
The second phase will guide you through the whole process, prepare you for all the legal documents you will need, educate you about all the practical things you have to know and you will find out the approximate costs for your project. Being realistic about what you can achieve with your budget is very important. We don’t want to promise you everything and then for you to be disappointed. We are on your side and part of your team. This is how we do things at Swoon.
You will get a written brief with all the information about your project you can use later with us or any other architect or company.
